Thanks for all our students who love to help around the school as Tillicum citizens.
We began the day with students writing the story from their drawing yesterday. The students pressed hard to show their drawings and have other students try and explain their story looking only at the picture. It was fun and informative so we spent the extra time on it.
The students in library had a book exchange and were introduced to First Nations culture through stories by Henry Vickers. They learned about traditional Haida chiefs today.
Once we returned to class the students had 10 minutes of extra reading in groups if they wanted. The students always love extra reading time especially on library day.
Today's book was Tiger and Badger. Tiger and Badger are best friends. Of course, sometimes even very best friends can get into disagreements —over a toy, or a chair, or even sharing some orange slices. But no matter what, after a bit of pouting and with the help of some very silly faces, they always make up. Tiger and Badger is an exuberant read-aloud bursting with bright illustrations to hold the attention of readers learning to make—and keep—friends.
In music the students continued working of rhythm, movement and musical patterning with our amazing music teacher Mrs. Awalt.
For Science we did a building challenge. The students were given a set of materials and had to solve a problem working as a group. As in the story Tiger and Badger working in groups can be helpful and a hinderance in solving problems. We talked about their many creative tries to solve the problem of science and interpersonal skills
Great day everyone see you all tomorrow.
