Wednesday November 4 th.

with important information, dates and happenings in the school.


The grade snow pass special for elementary schools in B.C.





We began the day reading from the picture book "The Feel Good Book"  Todd Parr with his signature bold colors and positive message,  shows us that happy feelings come many different ways, big and small.   We then used this book as a model for making our own "The Peaceful Book."  The students came up with 4 of their own ideas.  We will take the best one from each student and make our own poster.




The school counselor  Melinda, came for her second last time with our class and focused on the Power of Positive and Negative thoughts. After discussion the students drew a negative thought they wanted to get rid of by drawing it on the thought train (train of thought) then letting it head out of the station and out of their mind.  


After the counselor we moved on to addition of fractions.  Then the students headed off to music with Mrs. Awalt.  


After lunch we read for 15 minutes Then we began Science.  For the next two weeks we are going to work on creating an ecosystem in a shoe box.  The project will involve p


    An ecosystem is a community of living organisms in conjunction with the nonliving components of their environment (things like air, water and mineral soil), interacting as a system. These biotic and abiotic components are regarded as linked together through nutrient cycles and energy flows.


The students will 

We watched Bill Nye video on the ecosystems and bio-diversity.  The main message is that all things depend on other things and are connected. The students are going to fill a box with cards and drawings of living and non living things in an ecosystem.

We ended the day in a Recognition assembly.  4 of our students were given bear awards for community service, safety and supporting other students.  Well done KS, MD, JM and AT
