Thursday November 5

Notices:
We are collecting shoe boxes.
If you have any extra ones please send them in for us.

Please return all fundraiser forms

We began the day making a poster with poppies and including a statement on peacefulness.  The students typed their statement in Microsoft Word then when it was printed made poppies to go with it.  The simple black, white and red images are very simple and powerful.   We posted them on the bulletin board in the hall.

At 9:30 the students went to the library where the students learned how to use the computers to look up books in the library.  The students then had to find the books they looked up.  The students then were allowed to take out two books and they have been allowed to take a third book if it is for the topic they are doing for their ecosystem in a box project.

After recess the students worked hard to make their box part of their ecosystem in a shoe box project.  We taped, and taped and molded and shaped newspaper and began to put an animal from their chosen ecosystem on top of the box.

At 1130 the students went to music where they are working on memorizing songs for the winter concert.

After lunch the students went to gym and practiced ball and soccer skills.

After P.E. the students read quietly then I gave them the poem Flanders Field and they worked on memorizing the first paragraph.  We tried several different memory devices to help them memorize it.  Visualizing, repetition, seeing a video, hearing a song, looking for patterns and rhymes and making hand signs.  I think we will give them a memory assignment every week.

Tomorrow's test will have math, adding fractions, the usual spelling (under such much young touch use your you unit cute few new fuel human music)  and they will be given the poem Flanders field with missing words and a word box with the missing words.
