Swim Club Tomorrow after school

Scholastic Book Orders
please return as soon as possible please

We began the day working on designing a self directed project called "I am (or want) to be an expert in/at/on."  The students are given a chance to do a perfect project to show me what they have learned doing projects in our class this year.  I like project work as it helps the students learn and work cooperatively

We then went to gym until recess.

After recess we continued working on math addition with regrouping.  The students worked alone or in groups to finish 50 questions

After Math we worked on Social Studies and the Inuit.  We looked at the difference between how they traditionally traveled in the summer (Kayak) and in the Winter (dog sled).  I lived 8 years in the Canadian arctic in the NWT and Iqaluit and 24 years in the Yukon, so I have many personal stories to share about the north.  We also watched a video showing Nanook of the North a 1922.

After silent reading I began reading a novel to the class.  The class chose Harry Potter as the Novel they wanted me to read to them.   We then ended the day with 20 minutes of free time.  Some painted, some read, a few went on the computer.  Great job everyone, see you tomorrow.
