Thursday October 22

 Notices:
No School Tomorrow
Pro-D day
Last chance to send in your earthquake care kits. Next week they will be collected and put into our outdoor storage lockers in case of an emergency.

A notice from the PAC (parent advisory council) went home looking for volunteers for the Christmas Craft fair to be held on November 6th and 7th.

We began the morning with our regular Friday test (Thursday this week)  The students worked hard then we corrected them as a group.  The marks were recorded and the test sent home with most of the students at the end of the day.

A couple of students share their and treasures with the class.

After marking the test we went to the library where students did a book exchange, and a library book search using the computers in pairs.  The students were very engaged in finding the new books and many took them out for home and silent reading in the class.

After recess we did a read aloud.  I read the story "A Monster Wrote Me A Letter"  About a little boy receives a letter from a monster, inviting himself over to play, the boy isn't quite sure what to do. Afraid to offend, manners in hand, the little boy invites the monster over for Saturday. Strangely enough, it seems the monster is facing a similar crisis of etiquette — his letter was meant for his monster cousin, who just happens to live underneath the boy's bed! The students have to draw a picture and retell the story.  As students finished that many chose to do silhouettes to add to our window decorations.  Great work everyone.

The students went to music just before lunch and to P.E. just after lunch.  When they got back to class we just had time to clean up and prepare our class for a special presentation of SNAKES in the classroom.  The students who wanted had lots of hands on up closeness with the 6 very cool snakes that came into the classroom.  It was great.

The presentation took us to the end of the day.  The students were excited but respectful for the entire 45 minutes.  Great day everyone.... See you next week.
