Reading, Big houses, PE and Assembly

Our class writing and art is displayed by the office
Mrs. Schneider taught the students until recess.   After recess, I began by reading chapter 7 and 8 from "The Fantastic Mr. Fox.  A  story which revolves around an anthropomorphic, tricky, clever fox named Mr. Fox who lives underground beside a tree with his wife and four children.   The students listen and retell the chapter in their reading book.

After retelling we switched over to Social Studies and continued in our study of the Habitats and Houses of various first nations peoples.  Today we studied about the West Coast Longhouses, also called Big houses.  We talked about how, due to the fact that the people of the Northwest Coast had access to food year-round, they were able to live sedentary lives in permanent settlements.  This is very different from the Tipi and the Igloo which were temporary living structures.  The students then researched the Long houses in our Socials Texts and drew a border and a picture to go along with their research.

After lunch we went to Gym where we played group games and expelled a lot of energy.  The students run and play hard and are quite competitive.

At Lunch many of our class serve the Hot Lunch Program

After Gym there was a recognition assembly for odd numbered divisions (we present awards at the next assembly in two weeks).  Our class stayed and cleaned up the chairs and put away the equipment from the assembly.  Great help everyone.

First class to arrive at the gym.

Great day everyone.  See you tomorrow.

'A' is a great artist and helps finish up stars for our amazing mural.
