Friday November 5

Notices:
Parent Fundraiser with products featuring your child's art due now....

Next Thursday the 10th our class is skating in the afternoon.
All students need helmets.

Next Thursday November 10th is our
Remembrance day Ceremony starting at 1030
any students that are involved in clubs or organizations with uniformes are invited to wear their uniforms and join our colour parade.

We began the day in the computer lab.  The students worked on making a PowerPoint presentation on a type of animal that served in the war.

After recess we had our spelling test (they have been marked and handed back to most students) After that we worked on our Social Studies and worked on finishing off work from the week

After lunch we had silent reading followed by Math with our little Buddies.  After buddies we had presentations of Show and Smell.  Show and tell is very popular among the students. I keep thinking I should shut them down but it is great in that it gives students practice at doing presentations and gives me insights into the students.  We had to finish half way through as it was time for cleanup and gym.

The students ended the day in the gym.

Great week everyone.. Come back sharp and well rested Monday.

More pictures will be added later tonight or tomorrow as I load them up from home.  Cheers Mr. W

Thursday November 3

Notice:

Test Tomorrow .... Spelling, Name all the continents: Name the city we live in: Name the province we live in: Name the Country we live in and Name the continent we live in.

We began the day with a rousing game of Slimers Island with Mrs. Cannon's class.  We ran, yelled, dodged, slid, dived, ran and yelled some more.

After gym we continued our social studies.  Me, my street, my city, my province, my country, my continent and our earth.

After recess the students had library where Mr. K showed them resources in the library and they selected up to 3 books for the week.

After library we continued working on the Socials until the students went to music where they learned songs and played musical tick-tack-toe.

After lunch the students did silent reading, a favourite thing to do on library day, so much so that they asked for a 10 minute extension to continue reading.  This was followed by another favourite thing, Show and Tell.

Fact: Over 16 million animals served in the First World War. They were used for transport, communication and companionship.

Students had to do a report on an animal that was used in World War 1.  The information had to be told from the perspective of the animal.  Students worked in pairs.  The students were given a picture and one sentence about the animal. They then had to make up information about the animal.  They could simple care and attention or fantastic like how their animal won a medal or perhaps even changed the course of the war.

See you all tomorrow.

Wednesday Nov 2

NOTICE:

Yes... the students were supposed to bring in a box of Smarties and rockets for Math and Socials.

(Although it would seem as I was not in yesterday many were eaten instead)

We started the day doing ME (morning exercise usually writing) Today we wrote about the 'Best Day of the Year.'  I thought it would be fairly obvious, choice between Halloween, X-mas or their birthday.... but many asked if they could write about a day when they got a pet, or baby sibling... interesting and totally great.

After Writing the students did math.  500 subtraction questions to complete in 20 minutes...

After recess we continued for 10 minutes with the math then the students worked on handwriting.

Handwriting was followed by a rousing game in the gym and Music with Mrs. Awalt.

After lunch we began with silent reading then started some Mapping skills in Socials.  The students showed themselves on their street, their city, their province, their continent and their planet. I find the students, when I say what is the capital of Alberta, yell out things like Manitoba, B.C.  So hopefully this helps with that problem.

This was followed by Assembly

Great day everyone.  See you all tomorrow.
