Grade 3 swimming lessons start tomorrow

(great life opportunity for all our grade 3 students in the school)

We began the day with spelling.  The students worked in their spelling booklet on the words of the week.  After spelling the students began writing a story which included a Moon reference.  We did a quick brainstorm on what we knew about the Moon, fact or fiction.  The students than began writing their stories.  We are looking at how the different objects in the Solar System affect the earth.  

After recess we looked at different monthly full moons and their names.  January: The Wolf Moon. February: The Snow Moon etc.  The students began a Power point presentation for each month with each of the special names and explanations for the Full Moon.  The students had to blend pictures of a full moon with the animal or image associated with the new moon.  Tricky, but building on what we worked on last week with Microsoft Word.

After lunch we had silent reading, then I read from Harry Potter before the students headed off to Gym.  After Gym we began a Science unit on the moon.  Today we began with the first humans going to the moon.  We will explore different science associated with the moon.
