December Lunch Program Forms
This is a great resource and I love the fact that a hot lunch is served every day for a very reasonable price. Support it as best you can.
We began the day reading the book, 'If You Give A Mouse A Cookie' It is a circle story. That is it starts with a Mouse asking for a cookie then all the things that would happen, because if you give a mouse a cookie, he's bound to ask for a glass of milk, for which he'll certainly need a straw,... etc etc until he needs another cookie.. In the story a generous boy shares a cookie with a hungry mouse, it is the beginning of a chain of events that keeps the boy busy all day long, and might keep him busy for days to come. The students have started stories like "Don't give grandma a haircut," or "If Santa doesn't give you a present," or "don't take grandma to the mall," to mention a few. Very cool very funny. The format of the ME was a circle divided into 8 pieces. The students drew each segment and the story circled around and around.
After ME we did circle math for the 5 times table. Once the students figured out how to do the questions it went very well. We talked about how multiplication is fast adding and to learn the times tables.
After recess we went to the computer lab and worked on our science topic, researching and preparing information to go into their Environment in a Box project.
At 1130 the students went to music with Mrs. Awalt and continued working on rhythm and songs for our winter performance.
After lunch we had many show and tell presentations that took us up to 1:15 when we went to a performance of an adaptation of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. I think live theatre is great and gave our students an opportunity to experience something they would probably never have a chance to see if it was not presented at school.
We rounded the day finishing off the show and tells followed by a game of silent ball. See you all tomorrow.
