M&M Fractions and Tile Making

We have been learning about fractions in Math for the past few weeks now. The students have been working so hard and have been impressing me daily on their ability to recognize and name equivalent fractions. Therefore the lesson we did using M&Ms to create different fractions was well deserved!

We also made clay tiles this week, which will be put up on the new concrete supports outside of our school. The tiles are self portraits and were made using our own photographs as guides. A variety of tools were used to bring these tiles to life including nails, pencils, stamps and even toothbrushes! It was so much fun creating these. Thank you to ReneĆ© from the Victoria Crafty School of Art for helping us with the tiles. She said they will likely be mounted in the Fall. You will have to see if you can find your child's face after they are put up!
