This is our parents main fundraiser as the spring fair has been cancelled to make way for our 100 Year birthday party on Friday June 3

Earth day is Friday

Sorry it has been a while since I entered a blog entry as I have been focused on the stained glass for our 100 year celebration.  The spelling for the week has been updated.  I will post a bunch of pictures later of things we have been up to before today.

Scientist of the Day

A Classroom and Home Science Program

This is very fun and exciting

Kids love science experiments! Scientist of the Day is a program where each student in a class  has an opportunity to choose, practice, and present an experiment,  in front of their classmates in no more than 5 to 10 minutes.

Each student will be given detailed instructions which tell exactly what to do and when to pause to ask questions. Students can practice their experiment at home so that they will know what to do and what to say when they are the Scientist of the Day at school.

(Although experiments may cause wonder and their minds to expand and blow up, no experiments are included that require boiling, freezing, waiting for a long time for results, or are dangerous.)

 I will be here both days so come anytime during the conference time if the specific time given you does not work.

Book Fair is in the Gym during Students led conferences

We began the day with ME.  We started last week doing animal projects.  We are going to focus on the skills needed to make a magnificent project.  I am going to let the students make a typical project to start.  We will include the usual, habitat, description, food, enemies, etc. but we will expand it to include creative writing, poetry, art, masks, and story.  The first part of any project is picking a topic is to review what you know then figure out what you want to know.  The questions you ask determine the answers you get.  So the trick it to ask good questions.

After Recess the students worked in the computer lab on their projects until music when they went to Mrs. Awalt to learn recorder.

In the afternoon we started with silent reading then a fast and furious work afternoon to finish all unfinished work in time for student led conferences.
