SPCA Presentation and The Great Canadian Mail Race

This week we had volunteers from the SPCA, Peter and Cheryl, visit our classroom. They brought in their two dogs named Suki and Veda. Peter taught us how to properly approach a dog. He also told us what signs to watch out for if a dog is becoming aggressive. We also learned about the best way to protect ourselves in case a dog does attack.

Last week I received a letter from a Grade 4 student in Port Coquitlam inviting our class to participate in 'The Great Canadian Mail Race'. Each student wrote a letter (using their first name only, as well as Tillicum's address) to another Grade 4 student anywhere in Canada. They used Google to look up a school's address in any province or territory they wanted. After we learned the proper format of a letter, we learned how to address an envelope. Hopefully most of the students will get a reply before the school year is over!
